Refugee/Asylum Application
There are two main ways to apply for refugee/asylum: inside Canada and outside Canada. Outside Canada You can be sponsored by the Canadian government, a group of people or an organization, or by government and private sponsors. You must have the financial means to settle yourself in Canada. You will still need the UNHCR or a private sponsor group to refer you. Contact your local UNHCR for more information on referrals. Find your nearest host here . Inside Canada If you cannot get referrals, then you need to submit an application yourself. In order to do so, you must first be presently in Canada. You can apply at the Port of Entry, or at an inland IRCC office. You will need to complete the Basis of Claim form , which should include all necessary details to support your claim.
